Reports of new operating system on the horizon

Historically during the month of June, Apple announces the next fall (northern hemisphere) release of an upgrade for Mac OS. Until final release on Newsroom - Apple it is pure speculation, and hence not really able to be discussed on this forum. Beta for lack of a better word means guinea pig software. Only go to the source on the App Store for any upgrades. Apple menu -> About This Mac -> Software Update includes updates to the annual upgrade including security updates. Before Mac OS 10.15.7 Catalina, those updates were also available on Apple's support website.

Yet places such as https://roaringapps.com/ clearly show attempts to show new software compatible with newer releases, and iOS betas. These reports should be taken with large grain of salt in terms of compatibility until after release, and make sure those reports are updated after the release date.

And backup your data before installing anything new.
